We’re looking for a Finance Assistant (Rents) to join our Finance team at bpha, supporting the accurate setting, reviewing, and management of rents across our homes.

What you’ll be doing

Working closely with the Rent Accountant and wider teams, you’ll play a key role in making sure rents are set correctly, compliantly, and on time. Your role will include:

  • Supporting the annual rent review and helping ensure rents comply with the Regulator of Social Housing’s Rent Standard
  • Analysing rent data and setting rents for re-let properties across different tenure types
  • Carrying out financial processing tasks, including checking rent debits, processing rent adjustments, and accounting for rental income
  • Updating finance systems and ensuring rent and budget data is accurate
  • Responding to rent-related queries from colleagues and customers, providing clear and helpful information
  • Registering rental deposits with the Deposit Protection Scheme (DPS)
  • Using data and insight to identify inconsistencies and help improve processes

You’ll be part of a team that prides itself on delivering a great service and getting things right first time.

What we’re looking for

This role is ideal for someone who already has experience in a housing finance environment and wants to continue developing their skills.

Essential:

  • Some experience in financial processing, such as working in an accounts or finance support role
  • Experience working within a Housing Association or Local Authority
  • A good understanding of different tenure types
  • Strong numeracy skills and confidence working with data
  • Good IT skills, including finance systems and Microsoft applications
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • The ability to organise and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • A part accounting qualification or qualified by experience

We’re also looking for someone who is approachable, positive, customer-focused, and enjoys working collaboratively with others.
